In a post prior to the start of the Cup, I did indeed pick the Dutch to win it all. Just saying!

Did you see Van Bronkhurst's goal? :-)

At the start I'd never have reckoned on a European team winning it. Amazing how the South Americans have fallen by the wayside.

After the way they swept aside England and Argentina I'm kind of thinking the Germans now.

World Cup, Shmurld Cup

I am eagerly awaiting the new season of good ol' American Football as opposed to a field of sissies running around kicking a child's silly white ball around.

(freakin mamby-pamby sport!)

Yeah, but at least this world cup involves teams from several countries. I mean, what's that 'world' series thing you have all about? When was the last time Brazil or Germany or Russia sent a team to that? It's always American teams. Always. I tell you it's fixed and there ought to be an inquiry.

well, we do invite Canada (ok - only Toronto) - it's not our fault they suck :)

nevermind the fact it seems like half the entire league hails from the Dominican

Took a minute to figure out what BOC was but that is where my "handle" came from (7 screaming dizbusters) along with my last name, Dizbuster. :)

Your second name is Oyster?

:-)

The Blue Oyster Cult have been a not so guilty pleasure of mine for over 30 years now.

On Your Feet Or On Your Knees was one of the first "rock" records i ever owned. Still sounds pretty good to me now. Should have been at least mentioned in "the best live album" thread. GAMETIME!!

If I were more regular (ahem), I would insist on rephrasing that as purely "guilty" but that's only cause I am trying to get even with you on the JBruce worship front...(JK, but never did really care for them--BOC).

How else have I put up with you all these years?

That was a tremendous "strike". I am pulling for the Spaniards but the Germans are looking very good. They seem to be playing a different game than everybody else. Enjoy the game everyone!

Real men play Australian Rules Football. Have you ever watched it?? It's a classic "no blood no foul" game, and I actually think it may be a "no bone sticking out of your skin, no foul, so suck it up you pussy" game.

Aussie football? Not familiar with it.

Rougher than rugby?

It is common knowledge that it takes leather balls to play rugby and that rugby players eat their dead.
